How to clean dirty water
In an emergency, you can purify murky water using nature’s filters. Begin by layering stones, gravel, sand, and charcoal in a bag or container, with each layer serving to remove different-sized contaminants. Start with coarser stones at the top and end with fine sand and charcoal at the bottom. Slowly pour the water through this makeshift filter. For best results, pass the water through multiple times until it runs clear. Finally, boiling the filtered water will help eliminate pathogens. This simple yet effective method can be a lifesaver when clean water is scarce.
Of course, being prepared with a Lifestraw or Lifesaver bottle makes things a hell of a lot easier.
